The White Swiss Chard (Beta vulgaris var. cicla) is a hardy and productive leafy vegetable cultivated for its broad green leaves and thick, crisp white stalks. White Swiss Chard seeds produce upright, vigorous plants with dark green, glossy foliage and fleshy petioles of excellent texture and flavor.
This variety thrives in cool, sunny conditions and prefers fertile, well-drained soils rich in organic matter. Sowing is done from March to September, either directly in the field or in seedbeds, spacing plants 30–40 cm apart. Harvest begins 50–60 days after sowing and can continue throughout the season, as the plant quickly regenerates new leaves.
The White Swiss Chard shows strong resistance to temperature fluctuations and adapts well to different growing environments. Its leaves and stems are rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as calcium, iron, and antioxidants, making it an essential component of a balanced Mediterranean diet.
