Variety Description
The Thrakiotiko Melon is a traditional Greek variety known for its sweet flavour and strong aroma. It produces medium to large fruits with yellow skin and white, fragrant flesh. It is appreciated for its distinct taste and traditional character.
Growing Requirements
This variety grows best in warm climates with plenty of sunlight. It prefers light, well-drained soil and regular watering. Organic matter improves growth and enhances sweetness. The plants adapt well to different environments and perform well even in drier areas.
Sowing and Planting
Sowing takes place from March to May. Transplanting is done when the soil is warm. Plants need space to spread and develop properly. Harvest begins about 80 to 95 days after sowing, when fruits develop their typical colour and aroma.
Fruit Characteristics
The fruits are oval or slightly elongated. The skin is yellow with a firm texture. The flesh is white, sweet and aromatic. The Thrakiotiko melon is excellent for fresh consumption and summer salads.
