Hyacinthus orientalis ‘Delft Blue’ is a herbaceous bulbous plant belonging to the Asparagaceae family and is among the most popular and beloved hyacinth varieties.
It produces a dense flower spike of numerous blue to lilac blossoms that emit a strong, sweet, and characteristic fragrance. The sturdy, upright flowering stem reaches 20–30 cm in height, surrounded by long, glossy, lance-shaped leaves.
Thrives in full sun or partial shade and prefers well-drained, fertile soils.
Flowering occurs in spring (March–April), while bulbs should be planted in autumn at a depth of approximately 10 cm.
