A distinctive and flavorful chicory variety, known for its long, serrated leaves and pleasantly bitter taste. Catalonia chicory seeds produce vigorous plants with lush foliage and excellent regrowth after cutting. The leaves are deep green, crisp, and form a loose rosette with strong midribs.
This crop thrives in cool to mild climates and prefers fertile, well-drained soils rich in organic matter. Sowing is carried out from February to October, either directly in the field or in seedbeds. Recommended spacing is 25–30 cm between plants and 40–50 cm between rows. Harvesting takes place 60–80 days after sowing, once the leaves reach full size.
Rich in vitamins A, C, and K, calcium, and antioxidants, Catalonia chicory is ideal for salads or lightly boiled side dishes. The variety is highly adaptable, cold-tolerant, and maintains consistent yields throughout the growing season.
