The Galia Melon (Cucumis melo var. reticulatus) is a hybrid variety known for its intense aroma and sweet, refreshing flavor. Galia Melon seeds produce vigorous plants with long, creeping vines and large, rough-textured leaves typical of cucurbits. Fruits are round, with a netted rind and greenish to light-yellow flesh, rich in sweetness and fragrance.
The Galia melon thrives in warm, sunny climates and prefers fertile, well-drained soils with a pH between 6 and 7.5. Sowing takes place from March to May, either in seedbeds or directly in the field, spacing plants 80–100 cm apart and rows 120–150 cm apart. Harvest occurs 70–90 days after sowing, when fruits emit a strong aroma and the rind turns golden-green.
This Galia variety is valued for its high yield, disease resistance, and excellent fruit quality. The flesh is rich in vitamins A and C, potassium, and antioxidants, making it a delicious and nutritious fruit for fresh consumption or desserts.
