The Lilium candidum, also known as the Madonna Lily, produces elegant pure white flowers with prominent golden-yellow anthers. Its large, fragrant blooms appear together on strong upright stems and create an impressive display. The plant usually reaches around 70–100 cm in height.
Plant the bulbs in autumn in a sunny or lightly shaded position. Choose fertile, well-drained soil and avoid excessive moisture. Unlike many other lilies, the bulbs should be planted relatively shallowly. Flowers usually appear from late spring to early summer.
This lily is ideal for flower beds, borders and group plantings. Its pure white flowers combine beautifully with many other garden plants. The fragrant blooms are also excellent for cutting and make an elegant addition to bouquets and floral arrangements.
