The Red Lollo Lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. crispa) is a curly lettuce variety distinguished by its deep red to burgundy leaves and mild, sweet flavor. Red Lollo seeds produce vigorous plants with lush, frilly foliage that is both tender and crisp. This variety is highly valued for its decorative appearance and pleasant taste, making it ideal for fresh salads and gourmet dishes.
Red Lollo thrives in mild to cool climates and prefers fertile, well-drained soils with consistent moisture. Sowing can be carried out almost year-round, with best results from February to October, either directly in the field or in seedbeds. Spacing should be 25–30 cm between plants and 30–40 cm between rows. Harvesting occurs 45–60 days after sowing, once the leaves reach full color and development.
Rich in vitamins A, C, and K, antioxidants, and dietary fiber, Red Lollo supports a healthy diet while its high anthocyanin content gives it its vibrant color and antioxidant benefits. It is a productive, hardy, and attractive variety suited for both professional and home gardeners.
