Περιγραφή Ποικιλίας

Η Τομάτα ‘Roma VF’ είναι κλασική επιμήκης ποικιλία τύπου plum, γνωστή για την υψηλή παραγωγικότητα και τη συμπαγή σάρκα της. Οι καρποί είναι ομοιόμορφοι, ελλειψοειδείς και έχουν χαμηλή περιεκτικότητα σε υγρασία, κάτι που τους κάνει ιδανικούς για σάλτσες, πολτό και κονσερβοποίηση. Επιπλέον, η ποικιλία είναι ανθεκτική σε Verticillium και Fusarium, εξ ου και η ονομασία VF.

Καλλιεργητικές Απαιτήσεις

Το φυτό αναπτύσσεται καλύτερα σε ηλιόλουστες τοποθεσίες και σε εδάφη με καλή αποστράγγιση. Χρειάζεται σταθερό πότισμα για ομοιόμορφη ανάπτυξη των καρπών. Επίσης, η οργανική λίπανση ενισχύει τη γεύση και το βάρος των καρπών. Επιπλέον, η ημι-χαμηλή ανάπτυξη της ποικιλίας διευκολύνει τη φροντίδα της στο χωράφι ή στον κήπο.

Σπορά και Φύτευση

Η σπορά γίνεται Φεβρουάριο–Απρίλιο. Τα φυτά μεταφυτεύονται όταν αποκτήσουν 4–6 πραγματικά φύλλα. Στη συνέχεια, οι αποστάσεις 60–80 cm μεταξύ των φυτών προσφέρουν σωστή κυκλοφορία αέρα. Η συγκομιδή ξεκινά περίπου 70–80 ημέρες μετά τη μεταφύτευση, με καρπούς που ωριμάζουν σταδιακά και έχουν εξαιρετική στιβαρότητα.

Χαρακτηριστικά Καρπών

Οι καρποί της Roma VF είναι επιμήκεις, έντονα κόκκινοι και έχουν παχιά, πυκνή σάρκα με χαμηλή υγρασία. Η γεύση είναι πλούσια και γλυκιά, ιδανική για μαγειρική. Η ποικιλία χρησιμοποιείται ευρέως για σάλτσα τομάτας, πολτό, ψήσιμο και αποξήρανση.
