Η σπορά πραγματοποιείται από Μάρτιο έως Μάιο, είτε σε σπορείο είτε απευθείας στο χωράφι, με αποστάσεις 80–100 cm μεταξύ των φυτών και 120–150 cm μεταξύ των γραμμών. Η συγκομιδή γίνεται 70–90 ημέρες μετά τη σπορά, όταν οι καρποί αποκτήσουν έντονο άρωμα και ο φλοιός κιτρινοπράσινη απόχρωση.
